Frequently Asked Questions
What Size Are Hormone Pellets?
Hormone pellet insertion can have a significant positive impact on your life. But despite their many benefits, pellets are almost imperceptible to the human eye. The typical hormone pellet is no larger than a grain of rice. This means you’ll hardly feel it as it is inserted by your Elevate Miami specialist. Similarly, you won’t be able to detect it once it has been fixed beneath your skin.
Where Are Hormone Pellets Inserted?
In the vast majority of cases, hormone pellets are inserted in the upper hip. Before actually inserting the pellet, your Elevate Miami expert will sanitize the intended area of insertion. They will then make a small incision. Don’t worry! This incision is painless and never exceeds 5mm in size. The cut is so small, in fact, that it won’t even require stitches. Once the incision has been made, the hormone pellet will be inserted beneath your skin.
Do Pellets Need To Be Removed?
Once hormone pellets have been inserted into the body, they do not need to be removed. Instead, they will dissolve over the course of a couple of months. Once your pellets have entirely dissolved, they may need to be replaced by new ones. Your Elevate Miami team will examine your progress beforehand to determine if this is necessary.
So How Long Does It Take For Pellets To Dissolve?
Everyone’s body is different. As such, it’s impossible to give a definitive timeline for the dissolving of hormone pellets. However, most patients report their pellets fully disappearing after 3 to 5 months. You may notice your pellets dissolving slightly before or after this period. This does not mean the pellets are not working and is no cause for alarm.
Should I Expect Any Side Effects?
As long as your bioidentical hormone pellet therapy is inserted by a trained professional, you are unlikely to experience any major side effects after the procedure. You may encounter some pain or discomfort in the insertion area for the ensuing day, but this is fleeting and nothing to be worried about.
